Sickies!

Our first week in SC was lots of fun and we had a great time catching up with friends and family.
But, our second week has been signifacntly hampered by Boo coming down with a virus and having the croup. Not fun. At all. He's had a fever going on 6 days now. We've been to the ER and to a pediatrician and will just have to kind of wait it out for now. The good news is that the steroids for the croup cough are really helping now and he does NOT have the flu.

We were supposed to leave tomorrow to go back to TX, but b/c he's still feeling *punk* (as my grandmother would say), we're going to extend our trip another week.

Here are some pics of our fun before the sickies got us!

Fun with friends from our Colorado days!

Running the halls with Miss B!

Catching a ride with Paw Paw!

A boys paradise...a ploughed up field!
The sunflowers in the back are a bonus for Mom's photo taking :)

"Granny, can I borrow your shoes?"

Helping Paw Paw pick corn
I love this photo :)

Paw Paw would give the corn to Boo, and he'd go put it in the wagon.
So cute!

We Made It...

and are having a blast!

Boo and I arrived in SC Saturday evening. He didn't sleep at all on the plane rides. I couldn't believe it. I guess he was just too excited to get here! B-man wasn't able to make the trip because of work, and we're missing him so much.

We've been visiting with family and friends since we hit the ground.

More to come soon!

Mmm Mmm Good!

Alternately titled "Texas Teething Ring" or "Texas Pacifier"!

We were out eating BBQ this past weekend and we ordered some ribs. Boo kept reaching for them, so I decided to give him one, thinking he would immediately spit it out because of all of the pepper. But just like his Daddy, he loved the spice. And like his Paw Paw, he was gonna get every bit off that bone! As you can see...he loved it!! (pictures are poor quality b/c they were taken with my phone).

Looking like Paw Paw in this one!

Whew, that was good! :)

I know, I should be packing for our trip to SC tomorrow. I'm going to do that....in a minute! :) lol! Don't get me wrong, we're extremely excited to be going HOME, but I just don't wanna pack!

Is It Monday Already?

For those of you who might be thinking, "that wasn't that bad." Let me just say that this was a very mild case of rolling on the floor! ha!

Another Pop Quiz

Okay, can you guess what Boo is saying in this video?
I made a loop of the video clip. But, he also says it 2 times in each loop. I think you'll know what I mean when you watch it.

HINT: He says this word at some point during our bedtime routine.

I'll post the video answer on Monday...if I can wait that long!

A Staycation of Sorts

Well, we started out the weekend, with not much planned, but it quickly turned into a fun filled little staycation here in the SA area. B had a 4 day weekend and we just had a great time together.

On Friday, we went to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch Safari and drove through their safari. We got to see all kinds of cool animals. I think B-man and I enjoyed this part more than Boo. He was more interested in the the window controls and door locks as he sat in my lap through the tour.

They had a petting barn, and Boo loved it! We've been to some petting barns before, but back then he was more interested in just walking around. Friday, he really enjoyed petting the goats.

This little goat wanted to eat the hair off of B's leg.

Awww....the cute baby goats were adorable.
On the 4th, we went to the pool in the morning and grilled out steaks for supper to celebrate the holiday. It was a great way to celebrate.

On Sunday, we decided to go up to Canyon Lake and check out the Army and Air Force's recreation areas there. The swim beaches were pretty yucky because the lake is so low right now, so we rented a boat for a couple of hours and had a blast.

Picnic lunch at Canyon Lake.

Swimming with Daddy off the shore.

Riding on the boat. He LOVED it!

Could a boy get any happier?

"Mom, this is great!"

Swimming in the deep waters of the lake.

Look at how blue the water is.

"Hey Dad, do you think I could drive?"

He loved the wind in his hair.

Getting the hang of it.

"Don't worry Mom, I know what I'm doing!"

Yesterday, we just had a lazy day around the house.

A great weekend!

Independence Day

God Bless The USA

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today.
‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom,
and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,
to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,
From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston,
and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart,
and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American,
where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up,
next to you and defend her still today.
‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,
God bless the USA.

-Lee Greenwood

I love all songs patriotic! This one especially gets to me, but honestly, they pretty much all make me cry. We're wishing you a happy, relaxing, fun, and safe 4th of July. We're also remembering and honoring all who have defended and who continue to defend our country today.

Do you have a favorite patriotic song?

Trains and Tudes

Alternately titled, There's good news and there's bad news.

Let's start with the good news!

A few weeks ago, our neighborhood was having a neighborhood wide yard sale. So, Boo and I headed out for our walk to check out all of the goods. We got a couple of deals on a few little toys and then when we walked back by our neighbor's house, there it was...an activity/train table. She was selling the table and all of the trains and tracks for $40! I looked it over and said, "I'll take it". So, Brian lugged it up the stairs to our loft/playroom. Boo has really enjoyed playing at the table. It's been perfect. We put the trains in the closet, because he just seemed too small right now to really be able to "play trains" (and let's be honest, I was also afraid the wheels might come off and he might put them in his mouth and then choke...see I told you I have a lot of fear issues). Anyway, the other day I heard him fiddling around in the closet upstairs, and came across this...

He LOVES those trains! And, he loves to go in the closet to play with them. The tracks are still put away, but in the meantime, he is having a blast, ushering in the train era!

Now, for the bad news.

It seems Boo has developed a little attitude recently. You know, the kind where he doesn't want to put his clothes in the hamper and get ready for bath time and especially not nap time. Remember how excited he was to put his clothes away just a couple of weeks ago? Now, he'd rather Stop! Drop! and Roll! He also does the infamous, "I have no bones, or muscles" routine and just hollers like a limp noodle on the floor! He even did this...at a neighbor's house!!!! Oh, the horror of it all!! :) Our usual reaction is to just ignore this behavior. We were hoping he would see that it didn't get him anything and he would stop. But, that doesn't seem to be working. And if he goes limp, we just pick him up and take him to the bath or wherever we were intending for him to walk originally. So, I don't think he ever really gets his way in these situations. We still take a bath and put him to bed for naps, etc. It's just not going the way we would like it to go.

So, I'm soliciting all advice on the issue. What do you do when they roll around like that? And what do you do when they don't do what you tell them? Like, put your clothes in the hamper...etc.

Oak Hills

The challenges of reinventing the wheel that come with frequent moves are many. One of the most difficult ones we face is finding a church. Don't get me wrong, there are many to choose from, but it's often hard to find one that feels like home.

After living in Colorado Springs for several years, we finally found our home there, seemingly right before we moved. We just loved the Fellowship of the Rockies and were looking forward to returning there if this move had taken us back to The Springs.

In Fayetteville, we settled in at Central UMC. It was a great place for us and offered lots of opportunities for learning.

To be honest, we've kind of been dragging our feet here in TX in respects to finding a church. But, someone reminded me that Max Lucado has a church here in San Antonio, Oak Hills Church. My spirit had been renewed. I quickly told B about Lucado and his AWESOME books, of which I've read a couple. I can't even put into words what an awesome writer he is. But he is. Just trust me on this one. I would highly recommend reading his books. So, we decided that we would venture over to the other side of town to check it out. And that's what we did on Sunday.

Wow! That place is HUGE! That being said, they had a way of making their large congregation feel small. They were awesome with Boo in Bibleland (they're name for the childcare section of the church) and we were blessed to hear Max Lucado himself speak on the topic of his new book, "Fearless". That topic hits close to me because I'm always afraid of this or that...anyway...

The church is pretty far from us and I'm not sure it will become our home. It would be difficult to get over there for any bible studies during the week and back in time for naps, etc. But, it was a special treat and the jump start we needed here in TX. I consider ourselves very blessed to have been able to hear Lucado's sermon and I hope to share that experience with those who come to visit.
