Brrr!

I'm almost caught up on blog posts!
We went to Talkeetna a few weekends ago and stayed the night in a cabin there.
We had an unexpected snow storm while we were there. At least, I wasn't really expecting snow. I knew it was going to be cold, but I thought it was going to be clear.
We spent some time walking around the lodge and then headed to main street to have supper.
Some locals were playing music inside. It was so cozy (despite Boo being bored and Bit being an almost two year old).

These dogs looked so thrilled to be running in the snow!!
Only in Alaska would you see this along the highway.

Hiking with BeBe

We went hiking one day as well. Sort of. It was a bit colder than expected and WINDY! It ended up being a short walk. But, still fun.

We caught hang trying to get them to look AT the camera!
I finally said, "LOOK AT THE TOP OF MAMA'S HEAD" (as I patted the top of my head).
And this is what they did.
I almost lost it with laughter with this one.
Monkey See, Monkey Do!

Love this one!
This is what Bit thought about all of the time I spent unpacking.

This one cracks me up.
BeBe took them to the park and she was going down the slide like this.

Boo testing out the playground equipment.

I haven't done a Go Tigers post yet this year.
So...GOOO TIGERS!

AK State Fair 2012

Last year BeBe just missed being able to go to the AK state fair. I think she left one day and the fair started the next. But this year, she was here and we were able to go one afternoon. For this adventure, we decided to wait until Lil Bit woke up from her nap rather than planning on her sleeping in the car. Much better plan.
We had perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold. We had a good time and were all exhausted afterwards.

With BeBe and BOB (stroller) on our side, we were golden!
Boo is covering his ears b/c of a concert going on behind us.
He's not a fan of loud noises.

Lol.

Lil Bit LOVED the petting zoo!!

I think she's in love.

It was a JOY to watch her with the animals
.
I don't have a pic of it up here, but there was also a sheep named SHEEPY at the fair.
If you don't know, Boo and Bit sleep with their own stuffed sheep at night. They are both named...Sheepy. So, it was cute to see a real life sheep named Sheepy, too.

PONY Ride.
Boo's horse was named Ninja.

Bit was on Lightning. She was so excited to ride until Lightning did one of those full body horse shivers, and then she was terrified.
Once they started moving, she warmed up...a little.

BeBe and Boo on the roller coaster!!
That's one hip BeBe!

Trying to get a pic of me with the kids and the mountains.
Lil Bit is off camera playing with one of those road construction saw horse thingys.

Portage Glacier

We'll be backtracking here on posts this week. I'm finally getting around to going through pictures and uploading them to the blog from when BeBe was here for our return to AK.  It rained A LOT while she was here. So when we had nice days, we tried to get away for a bit.  One such day, we took a drive south to Portage Glacier.

We saw a pod of beluga whales swimming in the Turnagain Arm of Cook Inlet on the way down there.
That was really cool!
.

Boo and Bit on the glacier cruise. Bit did NOT sleep on the way there like BeBe and I planned. We paid for it too. Other than this pic where she's smiling, she was grumpy. Lol.

Portage Glacier behind us.

I love the glaciers!

Boo got to help some other children pull up a can of icy cold glacier water for the passengers to feel.

They had a fish tank on board with a piece of the glacial ice in it. It was to demontsrate that only 10% of the icebergs are above water. Pretty cool demo. I have no idea why the owl is in there too. Bebe, do you know?

It was a fun outing and a much needed break from unpacking. We really needed the day out in the sunshine.
Up next will be our afternoon at the Alaska State Fair.

Rejoice!

He's Home!!!!
On September 30, we welcomed home our rock, our solid foundation, my husband, and their beloved Dada. I immediately felt a sense of relief during that first hug. Ahhh, all of the stress of the year just melted away.

Our family is whole again (minus Sandy and Murray...I miss them). My heart is whole again. And I am grateful, beyond words, that he is home.

Thank you for your prayers, support and love as we continue our journey as an Army family. Your support during this deployment is what got us through it. About half of the brigade is still in transition getting from Afghanistan to AK. We will continue to pray for their safety as they journey home. I also ask you to pray for their families as they are STILL waiting. Those last days and weeks are so difficult.
