Two Months!

Lil Bit is 2 months old today! I can't believe it! It is going by so fast. Sniff!
She had her well baby check today.
She weighed in at 13 lbs and 9 oz...I love that!! The chunkier, the better! That puts her in the 95th percentile. She's 23 inches long. The nurse practitioner didn't say what percent this was, just that it was above average. Her head size is average (they didn't write that one on my paper, so I don't know what it was).
There's one more number to share...FOUR. What could that be?
It's the number of scrumptious rolls on her chubby thighs! I just want to eat them up! This was not an official stat, by the way, just something I wanted to add.

She's been going to sleep around 10 p.m. and waking up once to eat in the middle of the night. But, the last two nights she's been really cranky in the evening, making me think she might be ready to shift her bed time a little earlier. Her daytime sleep is scattered, at best. But, we'll get there.

In the first weeks of her life, I noticed that she favored turning her head to the right...especially when she sleept. So, I mentioned it at her 2 wk appt and the doc said she probably just had a preference for that side. Well, I continued to encourage Bit to turn her head the other direction, which is nearly impossible for a baby that young. I would even turn her head for her when she slept, but she would always turn it back. She's starting to get a flat spot on that side now too. So, today when the nurse pract. was checking her neck ROM, Bit really didn't like it at all and it was difficult to turn her. So, we're off to physical therapy to try to get some more tips on what to do. I remember learning about this in PT school, but I've tried everything I know. I'm hoping they have something new to offer seeing as how I never worked with babies. I've been avoiding propping her at night b/c I don't want her to roll onto her face. But, I might have to start doing that while she naps and watch her on the monitor.
Anyway, all else is well. They were out of one of the immunizations she needed today, so we're going to go back next week to get her 2 month shots.

She's smiling and cooing and doing great with tummy time. She's a recent fan of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." and loves to look at the fan, her mobile, and her mama! I've caught her smiling at Boo too when he's talking near her. I'm always sure to tell him that Bit is smiling at him (because he's still jealous) and he eats it up. She's starting to pay attention to her toy bar on her bouncy chair and there were a couple of times this week I thought she might roll over, but not yet.

She's doing great and we love her sooo much!
Here are her 2 month pics. I took them right when she woke up, so she's still a little sleepy.

Boo's Potty Training Update:
Boo has earned three cars in a row!!! He picked "Miss Sally" tonight. I tried to tell him that Mama's name is Sally and he said, "and Mama's name is Lightning McQeen, too." Hmmm...I don't think he gets it. ha! He's been doing really good and is eager to show me that his under-roos are dry. So, I'm hopeful!

Motivation

You all know that we've been working on potty training around here. Boo had been doing great keeping his under-roos dry. He had not gotten to the point where he would tell us he needed to go potty, but he would always go when we'd take him. Well, one day last week he started wetting his pants. I mean, full up wet his pants down into his shoes, etc. The next day we were at the supper table and I heard a funny sound and I kept thinking, "What is that?" Well, it turned out to be Boo sloshing around in his booster chair because he peed again! Gross! So, I came up with a new plan to motivate him to potty on the toilet. I know he can do it, he's just choosing not to right now. At Target, he was asking for "The King" car (a character from the CARS movie). So, I bought a multi-pack of cars and came home and lined them up on the TV. If he keeps his pants dry all day, he gets to chose one car. If he wets himself, he has to put it back. Too harsh? What do you think? He picked Chick (green car) the first day and The King (blue car) the second day. And on the third day, he lost them both within an hour of each other for wetting his pants. So, now they're all lined up again. I hope he earns one today!
Mo-mo-mo mo-motivation!

Why is it that babies LOVE to sleep on Daddies?
She just fell asleep on him with no rocking or bouncing!
I think they feel safe with their Dads.

First trip to church since Lil Bit arrived.

Soo cute!

Got drool?
Part I.

Got drool?
Part II.

We ventured out to gymnastics today for our playgroup.
This lil guy couldn't have been happier.
I was so happy to see my friends too!
Bit slept and then hitched a ride in the Baby Bjorn while we were there.

Okay, this is totally random, but I got a kick out of it.
Can you tell what this is a picture of?
This is my arm and a plastic clothes tag on my shirt. What's funny is that I wore this maternity shirt throughout both Boo and Bit's pregnancies and I just noticed this tag the other day.
Oh brother!
That's definitely pregnancy brain for ya!

This and That

Well, this week has been somewhat of a continuation of last week. Bit is recovering from her illness. She's still a little wheezy and cough-y, but improving. Yay!

Boo went to MDO on Tuesday and they called me around 1:00 p.m. to tell me that he was crying and fussy and pulling on his ears, saying they hurt. Hmmm. I was skeptical, not that they were lying, but that he had an ear infection. He's only had one very mild ear infection in his life and that was back in Arkansas. So, I picked him up early and I didn't even mention his ears and he never mentioned them to me and now it's Friday and he hasn't complained about them at all since he was at MDO. So, the silver lining here is that I'm pretty sure he doesn't have an ear infection and we didn't have to make yet another trip to the doctor!

There's more...
Yesterday, I got a flat tire!!
I had both kiddos with me too and of course it was nearly time for Maggie to eat. I was hoping to run in and out of a couple of stores and get home to feed her. But, when I came out of Target I noticed the tire was low. Bleh! Bleh! Bleh! Bleh! Bleh! My first thought was, I'm going to have to call B-man to come fix it b/c clearly I can't handle two children and change the tire. Which led me to think...where is the spare tire? Under the JEEP? In the back under all of the strollers and gear?? Hmmm...I have no idea! Oh brother. Aaaaahhhh!!
And then, there it was...my silver lining...there was a NTW (National Tire something or another) in the shopping center !!!! Woohoo! I drove over (on a low, not totally flat, tire so I wasn't riding on the rim) and they checked it out for me!! There was a screw in it. They were able to patch it for me. Hallelujah! Now, that really is a blessing!!!!!

Okay, moving on to better things!
Boo, got his hair cut yesterday. We go to this place where they have a Lightning McQueen car chair to sit in. He LOVES IT!!! He was very patient too while waiting his turn. They also played the movie CARS for him while he got his trim. I mean, how ridiculous is all of this?? lol! But, I splurge to take him there because he loves it so! They also give the children balloons after their cut. Well, Boo's balloon blew away in the nasty wind. It popped off the string. At first, Boo was very concerned and as the balloon was making its way to oh I don't know, Louisiana at at rapid speed, Boo says to me, "Mama, go get it..."
I stammered, "Uh...ummm, well, you know what (with my voice rising in that happy tone we parents get when we're trying to sell something to our kids)?" "That balloon has gone into the sky to be with the airplanes. Sometimes balloons do that. It's okaaaaayyyy!" I looked down at his little face hoping my explanation would suffice and luckily it did. He bought it! Whew! Meltdown averted. He was even excited to tell Daddy later that evening that the balloon went to play with the airplanes. Ha!

Vroom! Vroom!

" "Hey Lady, can't you see I'm driving here and trying to watch a movie?"

Okay, I admit it, like many moms out there I wondered if I could possibly love another child as much as I love my Lil Boo. While prego, I was slightly concerned that I wouldn't be able to connect with Miss Bitsy like I had with G. I mean, he's my boy, ya know?
Well, let me just say, I'm TOTALLY in love with this little girl!! And, I think she's pretty smitten with me too. I could just hold her and snuggle her all day! I mean just look at her. She's gorgeous! And, she's a good baby!! I could just eat her up!
I mean, seriously...adorable!

My two babes doing tummy time!
Oh, how I love them so!

Here are a couple of videos of Bitsy. She's not really doing any new tricks in these, but I know the grands love to watch.

Happy Weekend!

P.S. I know my use of punctuation is atrocious at best. I definitely need a review.

Finding the silver linings.

I called BeBe one day this week and the first thing I said was, "Where do I start?"
She responded with, "Well, just start somewhere." Aren't moms great that way? They just let you lay it on them, no questions asked. So, to tell you where we've been this week, I'm just going to start somewhere.

I had my six week checkup on Wednesday and got pulled over for speeding on the way there. Yes, I was guilty and yes, he gave me a ticket. Bleh!
Silver lining...he was very friendly whilst giving me a citation. lol! That's as silver as this one gets.

I go to my appt to find out that I'm not quite healed yet. Healing, but not quite there. The silver lining is that I am in fact healing. Yay!

Lil Bit started coughing and sneezing Wed. Bleh!
Called to make an appt for her Thursday morning. None were available. Bleh!
Had to take her to the ER. Bleh! Bleh!
But, thankfully, my friend Carrie's hubby is an ortho surgeon at the hospital and he came down to the ER to check on us and help expedite the process. Thank you Carrie and Brendan for being my silver lining!!!!

Boo and Bit both were dx with an upper respiratory infection. Bleh!
Silver lining: not in their lower airways and lungs!

Saturday morning Bit wakes up and is coughing really bad, gaging, accessory breathing, and is just yucky. Second trip to the ER. Bleh.
Bit is dx with RSV.
Silver linings: She had no fever, still just in her upper airways, we saw the same super Dr. that I saw on Thursday, the ped resident decided that she didn't have to be admitted after they originally said she was going to be admitted, and the ped resident told me to bring her back on Sunday to the peds floor and they'd examine her again (without having to wait in the ER or having to wait until Tuesday for her to be seen in the peds clinic).

Sunday morning I take Bit to the hospital to the peds floor and the pediatric attending exams her. That in itself is a silver lining. The infection is, thankfully, still in her upper airways only. He was a great doctor and even gave me his pager number to call him over the weekend if I had any questions...another silver lining.

A little aside: Military docs often get a lot of criticism for substandard care. I have to say, that I think the docs are GREAT. I mean, just look at the personalized care that Bit received these past few days. It doesn't get better than that. The problem, in my opinion, is just getting to the docs. Once you get there, it's fine. Trying to make an appt and trying to get a live human on the phone is the problem. I digress...

Another silver lining: Boo seems to be on the tail end of his illness and has perked up quite a bit. So much so, that he and B-man went to the Monster Jam truck show yesterday. He was scared at first by the LOUD noise, but quickly got over and really had a great time with Dad.

And these moments, documented in the photos and video below, are the BEST silver linings you can ask for. I love my family and my babies so much! These little moments carry this mama a long way.

Bit found her thumb!!

What a sweetie!

Smile!!!!!!!!!!!!

Monster truck Jam!!!

Lovin' it!

My girl and me!

So sweet.

Sweet, sweet sounds!

I'm hopeful that Bit is on the mend and that by the end of the week, she'll be feeling a lot better. I've been praying over her constantly (prayers for healing and prayers of thanksgiving).
Please join me.

Weekend Review

We started out good on Friday night. We went to one of B-man's coworker's house to watch the Cotton Bowl. Boo and Bit were great and soo cute!

But, we woke up on Saturday to a sick-y Boo. :(

And a smile-y Bit who we're trying to make sure doesn't get sick.

Let's Try This Again

The Tigers didn't do so well in their bowl game, but we have another chance to win a bowl game in the Faye family. B-man got his MS degree from the Univ. of Arkansas. They're playing in the Sugar Bowl tonight against Ohio State.

So...
Woo Pig Sooie!!
Go Hogs!

By the way...an update on yesterday: Not only did we make it through the day and get supper cooked, I also made it to the store to pick up some baby oil, vacuumed upstairs, and took the children for a walk! Success for sure! I was definitely exhausted when B-man got home and I don't think I'll keep that pace everyday, but it was nice to feel like I accomplished something.

Today Boo went to MDO and Bit and I had girls day in. It was great!

Flying Solo

Today, it's just the three of us...all day!
BeBe and Aunt R have been long gone and B-man is back to work full time after paternity leave and a half day holiday schedule. I'm also responsible for our supper tonight. We've been so blessed to have the Mom's Club bringing us meals three nights a week since M was born.
So, all I have to do is get us through the day and cook supper. Sounds easy enough, right?
So far Boo has thrown a tantrum and Bit has pooped up her back and onto my pants as well. Which reminds me, I need to change my pants. Don't worry, I took care of Miss Bit. So, this all sounds about right, don't ya think? lol!

Babies and Mama!

Love this one!

It's a hard knock life.

First tubby time!

Boo enjoying another gift. This sleeping bag attaches to the inflatable bed.
So cool for traveling!
