6 Months and Phase Three is Complete

It's so hard to believe that our Lil Bit is 6 months old!!! Where does the time go? She is such a little trooper and a ham and is just happy to be with her people. She really wants to get moving, but Mama is not ready for her to do that just yet. She did not enjoy Phase 3Alpha of our move either. She did NOT like the plane ride. Boo did really good on the plane, but did not want to get off the first plane and I literally had to push him down the aisle and off the plane. Ugh. Yuck. No fun. We were late getting to Charlotte and so we missed our flight to SC and of course our bags didn't arrive with us either. But, we were happy to see BeBe and PawPaw at the airport and after piecing together carseats from the airline's loaner closet, we made it home and in bed by 11 pm.

Phase 3Bravo also got off to a rough start. B-man went to drop off his truck to be shipped and the parking brake wouldn't hold. So, he had to go get new brakes. He called me at the hotel to tell me this and I just kept waiting for him to say, "I'm joking!" but he never did. This was definitely not in our plan or timeline. But, we made it to the auto mechanic and back in time for our flight out of Dallas. B-man had to drop us off in the middle of a hail storm (no complaining here about that as it could have been a lot worse...these tornadoes are crazy scary). After dropping us off, he got his truck squared away at the shipping facility and headed out towards SC. He made great time and arrived in SC Tuesday night. Whew. Phase three complete.

We're settling here and trying to catch up on rest. Boo hasn't had a nap in over a week and has been up late every day. It's finally catching up with him. So, he's napping upstairs as I type (hopefully). We've seen the grands, aunts and cousins and have been enjoying time with them.

Here are lil Bit's pics. Oh yeah, she had her 6 month check up before leaving TX. She weighs 18lbs 15 oz and is 26 3/4 inches tall (95th and 88th percentiles, respectively).

Peas have been purchased and may be consumed later today. Stay tuned!

Phase Two

Saturday morning, we packed up the truck, jeep, and uhaul and picked up Murray and Sandy from my friend Kat's house (thanks, Kat!) and started towards Dallas. Dallas is only about a 4 hour drive from San Antonio, but we didn't quite make it in one day. Thank goodness we will be flying to AK from SC. Bit did NOT enjoy riding in the car for so long. I think she was bored. She likes to interact with her public, ya know.

We stopped just South of Dallas and lucked out on a super nice La Quinta Inn that accepted pets. Whew! It's always tough finding a place to take pets. We always find one, it just takes some time. We ordered pizza and called it a night.

Texas shaped waffles for breakfast.

We made it to our PHase two final destination. We are literally right across the street from where B-man will turn in his truck tomorrow to be shipped to AK. While he was off getting the truck prepped for shipment, Boo, Bit, and myself braved a trip to the hotel pool.

Bit mostly stayed here in her seat. She was happy to sit and watch while Mama used two hands to handle Boo.

She did get out of her car seat to get her feet wet. Isn't she a cute lil strawberry?

Tomorrow begins phase three (we're just trying to keep the humor alive with all of this 'phase' talk).
The kids and I will begin phase 3alpha tomorrow as we fly to SC.
B-man, Murray and Sandy will begin phase 3bravo as they drive towards SC.
B-man jokingly said the other day, "Both phases will occur simultaneously in highly hostile territory!" So, true!

Please pray for travel mercies!

More of Phase One

Boo eating his to-go supper from Hooters. Don't judge...it was basically in the parking lot of the hotel and we were worn out from being sick and this was the easiest thing to get for him. Mini burgers and fried pickles. Supper...check!

Bit has been quite the trooper and has been spending a lot of time in this Ergo carrier. She's asleep here and I was eating lunch while we waited for the carpet cleaners to arrive. I didn't want to spill ketchup on her head, so I put a napking across her. Don't mind me, I haven't dried my hair in days. I have been washing it though BeBe!

Hotel sleep.

More to come...

Without A House

Well, we are officially "without out a house" now and are in phase two of our move (phase one was getting out of San Antonio and phase two is dropping off B's truck in Dallas to be shipped to AK). Anyway, we are without a house...definitely not homeless, though. Home is where the heart is, right? I've been trying to instill this nugget of wisdom in Boo this last week. He's had a terrilbe time adjusting to seeing all of his comforts packed up and shipped to AK. He even woke up one night yelling, "Where's Alaska?" Poor fella.  I keep telling him that as long as we're all together, everything is okay. Now, every time I tell him that, I get a lump in my throat thinking about what I will tell him when B-man deploys to Afghanistan and we're not all together. But, (in my best Scarlet voice), "I won't think about that now...I'll think about that tomorrow".

It's defnitely been an adventure thus far and we're not even out of Texas yet. I've been snapping pics with my iPhone (love that thing, btw) so I'm finally taking some time to share them here.

I'm not taking the time to do all of my fancy editing, enlarging, and centering of text/pics. Please forgive me!

Sitting in the jogging stroller watching TV upstairs while all of his surroundings were being packed.

Lil Bit has no routine so she's not upset by the move and is happy as a clam to just lie on the floor on this packing paper and try to figure out how to eat it.

Napping on the floor of our closet.

These boxes were a TOTAL life saver. B-man and I got super sick Tuesday and spent the night and part of Wednesday practicing our dinosaur call. Not good. Thankfully these boxes kept Boo entertained while we laid on the floor.

Hotel bath!

I can only send a few pics at a time from my iphone, so that's it for this post.

Mothers and Others

At church today, the preacher made a point of saying Happy Mother's and Others Day to all of the women in the congregation. I've never heard it described like that before, but I really liked the sentiment. To all of the mothers, grandmothers, mother-in-laws, great grandmothers, aunts, "aunts", teachers, and friends who help to raise up our children, thank you! It really does take all of us, doesn't it (Dads and others too, of course)?

My first born, my son...sweet and sensitive! I love you so!

My daughter...who loves to smile and who doesn't want to miss a thing. I love you too!
(She's laughing at Boo in this pic)

Melt my heart! My favorite part of the day was when Boo said, "Mama, thank you for being your Mama, Mama!"

The pic below was just too cool not to share. Uncle A just got back from a trip to Australia, to see E. They went snorkeling and got this awesome photo.

The fish in the photo is a Wrasse fish and E appropriately named him Wally the Wrasse.

I'm not sure how much blogging I will get done in the next few weeks. Packers come on Wednesday to work on our permanent storage items. I can't believe it's finally here! We won't leave Texas for another 2 weeks though.

Oh, Aunt L...Bit has brown eyes and Boo has blue eyes!

Fondue and PT

We're sooooo busy and our time is short there in Texas. I'm stealing a few minutes to post this blog update and then, it's back to work!

This past Monday, my Texas Momtourage bid my pal, and fellow zulily addict, Carrie and myself farewell at The Melting Pot. I love that place! We had a great fondue meal... I mean, when you start with cheese fondue and end with chocolate fondue, you just can't go wrong. So! much! fun! They gave me a photo book capturing all of the fun times we've had since we've been here. It really touched me. We've made so many good friends and great memories in the short two years that we've been here. Carrie and her family are headed up to West Point in June. Thanks Ladies...a million times over! I'm really going to miss y'all.

I wish I had a good segue for the second half of this post, but I don't. I just wanted to document Bit's time in physical therapy. She's doing really well and the PT said she didn't think she needed to follow up in Alaska at this time. Her last visit is on Tuesday a week and we'll get her final head measurements then.
"Look how far to the left I can look!"

"Do y'all mind? I'm trying to eat this toy!"

"Eh, these keys will do."

Who's a big girl?

Okay, back to work!
