3 Months

Our little lady is 3 months old today!!
She's the best little baby girl around too. She's a pretty happy baby, unless she's tired or hungry. She must get that from her mama.

She's sooooo sweet!
She's sleeping pretty good at night. In fact, the last 2 nights, she put herself to sleep after we put her to bed 'drowsy, but awake' (a term all of the sleep books use). So, that's HUGE! She wakes up at 2 and 5 a.m. to eat and sometimes, like last night, she'll add a midnight feeding to the routine.

She's a people watcher and loves to smile and watch her big brother playing and running around. She enjoys tummy time and although she was rolling over previously, she hasn't really done it again in about a month.

Here are her photos for this month. Compare her looks to Boo, here.

I think I've told you before about her torticollis and plagiocephaly (flat head). She has a tight muscle on the left side of her neck that causes her to prefer to turn her head to the right and tilt to the left. It is her left sternocleidomastoid muscle. We started physical therapy a couple of weeks ago but have been waiting for the doctor to approve the therapist's plan to continue. The therapist measured her cranial vault which was 2 diagonal measurements across the top of Bit's head. The difference in the two lengths was 12 mm. The PT said that if the difference is 8mm or more, she recommends that the child see a neurosurgeon to determine if she needs to wear a helmet to reshape her head. Bit's doc called Thursday and said she didn't want to go that route just yet. She wanted to give the therapy a chance. I can understand that, but I think I'm going to push to get the referral started so that if at her 4month checkup the measurements haven't changed or if they've gotten worse, we can go ahead and get into the nuero docs asap.

Luckily my background in PT had me alert to the situation immediately from her birth and I had already been employing most of the strategies the therapist prescribed. So, I'm hopeful that it's a mild case of torticollis, but the amount of plagiocephaly does concern me. I'll keep you posted. Here are some pics to help explain.

You can clearly see the asymmetry here.

The difference in the length of these two lines is 12 mm.

So as not to leave on a serious note, here's a video to make your day.
Lil Bit has started to laugh some. It's a cute little nerdy kind of laugh and I absolutely LOVE IT!

Come back next week when we celebrate another big three.
Boo turns 3 on Wednesday!

Spring Practice

We've been enjoying some warmer afternoons here in TX and spending some time outside. The fresh air does us all a world of good! Boo was enjoying playing football with Murray the other day and I was snapping away with the camera. Oh, and just so you know...I do comb his hair when we go out in public. This was post-nap play. ha!

He said, "Murray, catch!" and threw the ball at Murray.
Murray did not catch it.

Here's to a happy Thursday and the promise of Spring.
After a terribly long and whiny day yesterday, we could use a good one.

Storytelling

Both of our babes have become very talkative lately!
They love to tell stories!
And, they both need translators! :)

Boo tells a story about the rodeo.
I love how he says lemonaaade!

Bitsy tells a story about...well, what do you think?

Whew!

After 3 nights and 4 days of the Mommy show...

...Daddy's home!
Enough said ;)
UPDATE: Well, actually...not 'enough said'.
After publishing this post, I went to bed and I couldn't stop thinking about my fellow Army moms out there whose husbands are deployed. Several of them are finishing up a year long run on the 'Mommy Show' tour of duty at Ft Carson right now.
I've experienced two deployments as an Army wife, but none as an Army mom. It's hard, difficult, and kind of exhausting when your husband is out of town. Especially between the hours of 4-7 when there's so much to do and everyone is at their worst. But, when you're facing a year or more of single parenting (for whatever reason), those emotions can increase exponentially. So, here's a shout out to all of the parents out there that are doing it on their own. Whether it's for a day, a week, a year, or more...when it gets tough, I encourage you to 'just keep swimming' like Dory on Finding Nemo suggests (oh brother, I'm now quoting Disney movies) and enjoy the time you have with your babes b/c we all know it goes by too fast. And who cares if you haven't eh hmm vacummed in two weeks and you have two dogs whose hair has formed dog hair bunnies in every corner of the house? That just means you were busy taking care of your family! To all of my pals in Colorado who are reuniting with their loved ones, ENJOY!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day from our house to yours! This is how mine started off...

B-man: upstairs whispering to Boo "Go tell Mama Happy Valentine's Day!"
Boo: upstairs whispering, "Okay!"
Boo: runs downstairs and jumps into my arms and says "Happy Mama-tine's Day!"

Isn't that the best??!!

We made cupcakes to celebrate. Boo actually helped me with all of the steps. He put the cupcake papers on the cookie sheet and helped with the ingredients. I KNOW I took pictures, but when I went to get them off the camera...they weren't there. hmmm...
He was so excited to help and, of course, to eat the cupcakes. He didn't even mind waiting for them to cook. He was a great lil Valentine!

We had awesome weather today in San Antonio...sunny and a high of 77. So, we walked (Boo rode his 'motorcycle') and went to the park this afternoon. It was great to get outside, but we were all a little tired after that adventure.

Mmm! Good!

This is Bitsy's Valentine to you all!

I also received a super sweet card from Boo and Bit this morning. I think their Daddy helped them with that one.

Tomorrow is our 8th wedding anniversary! B-man left to go TDY this morning, but I found the card he left behind for me this morning. It was perfect! Thanks, Hon! Let's see, in 8 short years, we've lived in three places, B-man has been to Iraq twice (a year at a time), he earned his MS degree, was promotoed to Major, and we've had two children! Whew!! I love you Honey! We miss you!

Let's Rodeo San Antonio...2011

Yesterday, Boo, Bit and myself joined some of our friends at the rodeo. We had such a good time last year, we couldn't wait to go again. I was a little leery about taking both children on my own to such an event, but we made it and we only lost one sock and one sippy cup. I have no idea where the sock was lost. But, the sippy cup rolled under the hotdog stand at the carnival. Bit was crying in the baby bjorn and Boo was slightly upset that we were eating and not riding more rides. So, as I saw it roll under the trailer, I thought well, that's that! I'm not even going to try to bend over with Bitsy strapped to me to retrieve it. We'll just get another. Ha! Here are some pics.

We went through the barns first to see the cows and horses.
This one was huge! It looks like there's smoke in the arena, but it's just dirt in the air.
Those cows were the prettiest cows I've ever seen. They were getting bathed and getting their hair blown dry!! Kind of funny.

Look at this lil cowgirl!
She wasn't really excited about watching from her car seat.
So, I ended up carrying her most of the time in the Baby Bjorn.
Luckily, I had Boo's hat to shade her from the sun b/c it was a beautiful sunny day.
Need I say more?
Sooo Cute!
Thanks Carrie for taking pics of us!

Boo enjoying the race cars.
I think this was his and MD's (his buddy) favorite rides.

Airplanes!!!

And our very own cowboy eating a hotdog. He's so handsome!
Looks like we need a lesson in the most socially accepted way to eat a hotdog!

MD and Boo looking through the fence in one of the arenas.

Texas Rodeo!
With the help of my pal Carrie, we were able to pull it off! We had a great time!

Video Clips

As a little girl, I can remember my sister and I watching professional wrestling with PawPaw on Saturday mornings. We were particularly fond of the Rock-n-Roll Express duo and Dusty Rhodes.
I got a big kick out of spending this time with PawPaw.
Well, now Boo and B-man enjoy some 'wrestling' sessions of their own.
B-man usually gets really into it calling out the moves and making faces. This session was staged for the camera so it was difficult for him to really get into it.
I'll have to sneak up on them one day...

This is Miss Bit stopping to enjoy the flowers!

Just another update

Since I posted about Bit always sleeping with her head to the right, she's been sleeping like this...with her head turned totally to the left! That's good though! Hopefully, it will help reshape her flat spot. We're starting PT on the 15th.
Last Friday we had my friend Carrie and her son MD and daughter CAM over to play. MD and Boo are in the same playgroup and Bit and C are just about a month apart.
It was so good to get together with a fellow new mom and share our stories and inquiries.
Carrie brought Chic Fil A for breakfast and the boys had a blast playing while the moms and babes chatted.

Bit and CAM

The big brothers and lil sisters.

Saturday, we went to another playmate's bday party.
I don't think Bit likes her hat.

...or maybe she does? ;)

We've been getting out to go walking in this nice South Texas winter.
Boo rides his "motorcycle" while I push Bit.
This was before the frigid temps we've had the past couple of days. We might even get
snow tonight!!

Boo playing "doctor" with Sandy.
He's so cute when he plays this. He says the same things the vet said the last time we took the real Sandy to the clinic and that was before Bit was born. Who says 2 year olds can't remember things??

Look who's rolling over!
She first rolled over last Friday. I missed it, because I stepped five feet away to get the camera and when I turned around, she was on her back.
But, today she just kept doing it over and over to both sides.
Way to go Bit!

That's all for now.
