After the Storm

Like much of the nation, we suffered a pretty significant winter storm here this week. What made it so bad, was that it was an ICE storm, not a snow storm. It rained and then immediately froze. Many trees lost their tops due to the weight of the ice (including our lone tree in the backyard). Power outages were/are in excess of 100,000. We were very lucky to only lose our power for a short time from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Tuesday night. We're also fortunate to have a gas log fireplace, so B-man got it started and we all slept in the den and were toasty warm!

Our poor tree is missing it's top now. If you look in the background, you can see that the other trees in the neighborhood have also snapped in two.

There are still many without power tonight and they estimate it could take until Saturday night or longer to restore electricity to all customers. Tomorrow brings sunshine and warmer temps(47 degrees). We hope that wherever you are, that you are warm and have power tonight!

Not Me Monday

It's been a while since I've participated in "Not Me Monday", but I'm feeling especially guilty about what I did not do today!

I did not buy Doritos and cookie dough because of the ice storm predicted for tonight (not sure cookie dough falls into the nonperishable food item category)!!!

I did not then proceed to eat said Doritos as soon as I got home from the grocery store. Nope, not me!

I did not eat about 3 cookies of cookie dough before baking the rest and eating about hmmm....6 more after they were done baking!!! Aaack! Definitely not me.

I get it honest though...BeBe does the same thing when preparing for hurricanes, but it usually involves Little Debbie's!! Sorry BeBe, I took you down with me!

Walking...sort of

Lil Boo loves walking around behind his car these days! He's so proud of himself when he takes off across the room. Super cute!

...the number of days in a row that Boo wore his jammers ALL DAY LONG!

It started innocent enough on Thursday when it was so cold. He just looked so comfy and snuggy in his footie jammers. It was too cold to go anywhere, so I didn't think it was a big deal.

Well, Thursday night, I got sick and Friday morning so did Brian. So we all were in our jammers for the next 2 days (different jammers each day though)

All Boy!

It is C-O-L-D here today! But, I think it's cold everywhere today. We've even had a few heavy snowflakes fall this morning.

I know it's been a while, so I wanted to give a visual Boo update. Here are some pics of Boo crawling over and through things...just as a little boy should!

Lately, he's enjoyed playing peekaboo with the curtain that covers the closet in his room.

Just a peek at our week

Boo was in desperate need of a haircut with his bangs dangling in his eyes and his hair flaring out over the top of his ears. Neither B or I thought he'd make it through sitting in a barber's chair. So, we decided to do it ourselves. Our plan...to busy his hands with food while Dad cut away (Mom was too afraid). Boo was well occupied by the food, but would occasionally wonder what was going on! Here are a couple of pics.

Next up, a video. Boo got a couple of toys that have balls that go along with them. Well, one morning we were playing with the balls and every time I would throw them up in the air and let them fall to the ground, he would just laugh hysterically. He thought it was the funniest thing in the whole wide world, ever!

And last, but not least...
Our Boo just stood up at his car and started walking across the den! I almost cried (please forgive me high pitched voice)! I'm not sure he enjoyed it either as you'll see in this 3rd attempt of his to make tracks. Sniff! Sniff! My baby is growing up so fast!

I couldn't stop at just five!

10 months!

Lil Boo is now 10 months old! Can you believe it? We can't. He's grown so much and continues to show off new tricks almost daily. He stood alone for 18 seconds yesterday (yes, I counted) and is cruising all around the coffee table. He's starting to wave, but only when I raise his arm. And, we think he's starting to sign *more* when we ask him if he wants more. There is some confusion, though, because it also looks like he's clapping. But, we think he's saying *more*. Happy 10 months buddy! We've all come a long way!

Here's a special shout out to a dear friend of mine dating back to elementary school. April and John welcomed their first child into the world this morning! She weighed in at 8lbs 15.5 ounces and is 20 inches long. Her name is Harper Jane. Congratulations!

Happy New Year to you all! We hope that your 2009 is your best year so far! It will be hard to top 2008 with the arrival of our Lil Boo. We're so blessed with a beautiful, happy, healthy baby boy! Thank you God!


For those of you who don't know...Clemson is playing Nebraska in the Gator Bowl today! Now, the only other time these 2 teams have played each other was in the 1981 Orange Bowl National Championship game! The TIGERS WON and thus were the National Champs in '81!

We're pulling hard for a repeat performance and are doing all we can here in Fayetteville. We're all decked out in Clemson attire (Murray and Sandy too)! Go Tigers!
