In God We Trust

I couldn't delay getting this post up any longer. I've already forgotten what Boo was talking about earlier today when I was trying to get us all in the house. Lil Bit wanted to do everything by herself. I had 4 bags to carry inside and Boo was talking nonstop about something. And I can't remember what it was now. But, I'm guessing he asked me about something and I answered and he probably responded with his usual...why. And I said (in a tone of exasperation and slight irritation), "Boo, just trust me okay?!" And he looked me square in the eye right there on the front porch, pointed to the sky and said in his deep little voice, "Mama, I trust God, okay Mama?"

Uh, what? Err. Okay. Wow! I definitely wasn't expecting that. I was kind of speechless. I finally said (with a grin from ear to ear), "Yes, that's right. We do trust God. You. are. right!"  I mean, what else could I say? Way to go Lil Boo!!

Retraction!

Okay, I know that the moon is not stationary! More to follow.

More:
I don't know what I was thinking! The moon definitely rotates and revolves around the Earth. Duh!
I'd like to say there's a good excuse for my mistake. Maybe in my attempt to simplify the topic for a three year old, I simplified to the point of being wrong. Anyone buying that?? Lol.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I used to be fairly smart. And then I got pregnant...

I guess I won't be homeschooling anytime soon!

Soccer Saturday

For the next 8 weeks, Saturday will be known as soccer Saturday! This is Boo's first time playing a team sport. We were both really excited about this morning. I'm easing into the whole thing. There's only one practice/week...on Saturday and the at the end of the season, the practices become games. And we didn't have to be there until 10 a.m Whew!! I was glad it wasn't an 8 a.m. practice time.

When we pulled up to the soccer fields, it was so exciting. There are about 9 fields and teams of all ages are playing. You could hear the crowds and parents cheering. I felt like I was taking my son to play college football! I was beaming with excitement! ha!

Turns out, the first part of practice was parent participation. Which is fine with me...except that I had Lil Bit to look after. Luckily I brought about 20 minutes worth of goldfish and that kept her occupied during the first half. After that, she wasn't having the stroller anymore!  He had a great time and didn't complain/whine about getting dirty. We've been preparing for that for a while now. He doesn't like to be dirty.

Here are some pics! He definitely looks the part!

Of course, I took some video too:

He doesn't quite get the "no hands" part of the game, but I think he did great for his first time! AND...he was listening well and was attentive and very well mannered!! Success!!!

Funny Friday

So all week I've been thinking that when Friday came I would write a post about the funny things Boo has said this week and funny bits about our Lil Bit. Well, Friday came and I was still on board. And then it was bedtime, and I got sleepy as I was reading books to Boo...and now it's Saturday.

Not only did I not post on Friday, I can't even remember half of the funny things that Boo said this week! I need to keep a running tally so that when Friday comes, I can just post it.

I do remember one thing he said while he was sick. We talked a lot about germs and how they make you sick this week. So one morning when he woke up and was still sick, he said, "Mama, why do my germs still want to play on my hands?"  So cute!

Oh something else we've been talking about is Jesus and God and heaven and that always leads to a discussion about outer space.  It usually goes something like this; "Mama, I want to go in a rocket and go way up into space to see Jesus."  Hmm...any tips on describing where heaven is in relation to space??

We even had an impromptu science lesson on the sun, Earth, and the moon the other day at lunch. He wanted to know how does the moon come up at night. So, I used what we had on the table to make a visual aid and explained that the moon is actually in the same spot and that the Earth rotates every day. I also explained that when it's day time on one side of the Earth, it's night time on the other side.  We did not talk about the revolution of the Earth. That was just too much.

The white cap is the moon. The lid to our fruit cup is the Earth. SC is the french fry and Afghanistan is the chicken nugget. The red bowl is the sun, of course! After explaining everything to him, he was able to tell me whether it was day or night in SC and Afghanistan based on the rotating Earth! Not too shabby for an impromptu science lesson.
Oh, gosh! I almost forgot about this funny thing!

Do you notice anything...

...about his pants??

Like they're on backwards??
I put his clothes out for him in his room yesterday and I could hear him getting frustrated so I asked if he needed help. Nope. He wanted to do it all by himself. He came out of his room a few minutes later and was all dressed! Hooray!! High fives for everyone! And, then about two hours later when I was picking him up from child watch at the Y, I noticed it...he had his pants on backwards!! Oops! I suppose I need to do a better job of checking his clothes after he's dressed.

Now, it's Bit's turn. She is something else. She's a little mama. She's always putting things away.

I opened the drawer under the oven the other day and found an empty cereal box, her socks, and a kitchen towel.

And I found this dog bone in the dish washer.

And here she is! She loves to play in the kitchen cabinets.

Nine Years

Nine years ago today, B-man said "I do" to each other!! That was back when the Iraq war was imminent. Because of deployment orders that were received by B-man's unit, we changed our wedding date (by two weeks) and entirely changed the wedding. But, I still say it was the best day/wedding ever! It was so fun! Of course, I was a ball of tears as I was saying "til death do us part" and thinking in my head that he was going to war. But, we had our close family and friends with us and it was wonderful!

The babes and I were able to talk with B-man on the phone today! Thanks for calling! And BeBe and PawPaw had us over for supper at the reception site (aka their house)! Lol. She even pulled out some dried daffodil petals from our wedding flowers! Thanks so much for having us over for supper!

B-man and I have been through a lot as a married couple, but I think a line from a letter that B-man recently wrote kind of tells the bottom line. He wrote (and I hope he doesn't mind that I'm sharing this)... "when I heard your voice on the phone, I felt rejuvenated!" Wow! That definitely makes a gal feel good! Nine years later and he feels like my voice is rejuvenating?! Not too shabby! Lol! And you know what, I felt the exact same way. He was referring to a phone call we had after about a month of not being able to connect on the phone. When I heard him say, "Hey," I melted all over again. I love you Hon!! Happy Anniversary!

Before supper tonight, we went for a little walk. I just received these cute super hero capes for the kiddos in the mail and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try them out. For your viewing pleasure...

Super Bit!

Super Boo!

It looks like she's running to save the day.
But, in reality...

She was falling! hehehe

What evil force should we fight now?

Let's call it a day.

Our Sweet Little Valentines

Our Boo has been sick since Saturday. Unfortunately he was still running a fever today so he wasn't able to go to school and share his Valentine cards. He was upset that he didn't get to go to school. He kept saying, "but I go to school on Tuesday!" Poor buddy.  So we had another quiet day. We did break up the monotony by going to Bebe and PawPaw's house to hang out on their couch today.

Our sick-y Valentine.

Before he got sick we worked on his Valentines for school.

I got this idea from pinterest!

He'll deliver them on Thursday, hopefully!

Little Miss Valentine was not cooperative with the camera today.

Our Stars

Each week in Boo's class, they celebrate a star student. This star student gets to bring in things from home that they love or that they want to show to the class so that the class can learn more about them.

Well, this week, Boo was the star student!! He was so excited to gather things from home to take to school. Thanks to BeBe for babysitting Lil Bit so that I could go take pictures.

Before circle time, making his bag to receive Valentines next week.

All of the students gathered on the carpet and said the pledge, talked about days of the week, the weather, etc. And then it was time for the Star Student!
First up, Airborne yaya!
"This is my yaya that I sleep with and that my Dada jumped out of an airplane with..."

"This is me and my Dada at the fair."

"I wanted to drive!"

I also took some video...

He's grown so much! I was concerned that he might get nervous that I was there. But, he did it with no problem. He hopped right up into the big chair, and started telling everyone about his Dad. Boo picked out all of the things on his own to take today. And I love that he wanted to tell everyone about B-man!

And after school, we went to lunch with BeBe to celebrate our Star Student!

He was distraught that a stranger had my camera.
What a difference from the photo above! LoL!

Switching gears now to our Star Bit...

I think we have at least a million videos of Boo during his first two years. I don't get nearly as many videos of Lil Bit, so while Boo was at school last week, I took this little clip of her. And while I was actually blogging...I thought I'd go ahead and share it now.
