Our New Home

B-man has been on a "mission from hell" this week! He went to our next duty station to find us a house to rent. I say "mission from hell" because he encountered obstacles at every step of the way.

It started on Sunday with his departure. There were multiple delays which resulted in missed flights. He was supposed to arrive at his destination around 6 pm and didn't get there until 11:30 pm. When he did arrive, the car rental place he had reserved a car at was closed. He finally got a car from another company and got to his hotel at 1:30 am.!

He drove all over town the next day looking at houses and narrowing a list he had gotten from a property manager that fit our criteria. To make a long story short, every time he liked a house and thought about putting in an application for it, someone else had gotten there a few hours earlier with their own application.

So, there it was Wednesday afternoon and we have no house and B was just bleh about the whole thing. I was here feeling so bad for him. He really had his hopes on this one house and although someone had put in an application for it earlier, we decided that we would put in our application too, just in case the other party's application wasn't approved. Not likely, but it was worth a shot.

He spent the rest of Wednesday looking at neighborhoods instead of houses, realizing that he wouldn't be able to seal the deal on this trip and that we would move, and have to find a house when we got there.

BUT, he got a phone call late Wednesday afternoon saying that we HAD BEEN APPROVED for the house that he loved!! For whatever reason, the other application was denied!
Eureka! We have a house! Yay!

It looked like B-man's luck was changing. But, his return trip home was a disaster too. Let's just say he got to the airport on Thursday morning for his departure and didn't make it to Arkansas until Friday afternoon!!

Thank you Honey for working so hard to find the perfect place for our family!! You're the best!

Here are some pics!

Here's our new home!!

It's H-U-G-E! 4 bedrooms and a loft!

So, come visit us!!

This swing set is right across the street from the house!
It has 2 bucket swings. Boo will love it!

This park is in our neighborhood.

I think B-man did a great job finding us a home! We're feeling a little overwhelmed with the move so close, but we're excited about our new place.

Ode to Bub

I have some sad news to report today. BeBe and PawPaw had to put Bub down today. He hadn't been feeling well lately and was having trouble walking and going up stairs. He had a bout of pneumonia earlier this year and never seemed to fully recover. They took him to the vet this morning and discovered that he had cancer in his spleen and liver and his lungs looked like they were effected as well. The mass was too large. Nothing could be done.

I report this news with great sadness. Bub was such a loving dog. BeBe said, "he was the perfect dog for me" and I replied, "and you were the perfect owner for him". Bub loved her dearly! So much so that he had a hard time settling down when she would leave the house. He would run laps around the house waiting her for return...even when she was just going to get the paper in the morning or if she was upstairs (he never did like stairs much). And BeBe loved Bub! They walked together every morning and afternoon...rain or shine, hot or cold. He followed her everywhere. And BeBe was always sure to be there for Bub when he needed her. She would always leave a little bit on her plate to share with him and Bella.

Bub is Sandy's brother. They were pups together in SC before we moved to CO. In fact, BeBe was there when they were born...right under our front porch. They had so much fun in the fields and mud as youngsters. They were a devilish pair back then! When BeBe called today to tell me the news, I immediately burst into tears and Sandy, who has always been in tune with my emotions, came running over to me while I was still on the phone. I just petted her.

A loss of a pet is so hard! They give such unconditional love. Always happy to see you, always. They're such great company during lonely and tough times. And sometimes, they're someone to talk to (if you have a pet, I know you know what I mean here). On days like today, it's hard to be a dog lover.

ODE TO BUB

B is for Bubaloo! This is one of the nicknames I had for him. Bub was such a sweet dog. BeBe often described him as a gentle giant. He was HUGE weighing in at over 100 lbs most of his adult life. He looked more like a lion than a dog! But he was so sweet and just wanted love and a scratch on the hind end or behind the ears.

U is for underestimate! As in, don't underestimate Bub! He wasn't the smartest dog in the world and was a pretty slow mover in all respects, BUT if he ever got far enough away from you, he would give you this look and just take off! And we'd chase him all over the place! He was so hard to catch. We often had to get in the car and drive after him.

B is for bones. He LOVED his bones. It's the only thing he ever growled at another dog about. Murray was usually the one he was growling at. Bub would sometimes protect his bones, by nonchalantly reaching his giant paws to the side and covering the bones, so no one else could get them.

We love you Bub! You will be missed.

St Louis Trip

Lil Boo and I took at trip to The Lou to see our dear friends the Bradleys. We went up on Sunday and came back on Wednesday. The last time we saw each other was when the little guys were 3 months old. My how they have changed!! Thanks to the whole family for opening your home to us and rearranging sleeping arrangements, etc. to accommodate us. We had a great time!

The boys all playing with trains at the Bradley house.

We had a picnic at a local park and then played on the playground.
M and G pausing for a friendly photo.

Mommy and G on the swings!

Tubby Time!

We went to this very cool train place where they have all sorts of train tables for the kiddos to play with. This was a rare picture of Boo actually at the table. He mostly just wanted to walk around!
I know the day will come when I won't be able to pull him away from a train table!

More trainy fun!

Enjoying the swing in the Bradley's backyard!
"Hi Gracie!"

A beautiful spring day!
Great for barefootin!

J was such a delight to be around! He's such a happy boy and a great helper!
Here he is showing Boo how to play with big trucks!
M was taking an awesome afternoon nap and missed out on these pics.

All in all, Boo did pretty good on the trip. He traveled well the first day and was great for a day and a half. After that, I think it was a little much for him. He had a minor meltdown during every awake time after that second night. And on the way home...well, he showed off big at Cracker Barrel. He refused to eat ANYTHING!! And as you can see, he never skips a meal. I couldn't believe it. He just cried and cried. Oh brother! I was so upset by his fit. But, we made it.
Thanks again Bradleys! We had an awesome time!

Wordless Thursday?

I know it's not "Wordless Wednesday" but I was just too tired from our trip to get this up yesterday. I know, it would have taken 2 minutes, but still, I just couldn't get it done.
We just thought it was so cute that while he was playing with his fridge toys, he decided to just cop a squat on Mommy's knee.
Up next...pics from our trip to St Louis!
Well, so much for the wordless part too! ha!
