I know it's been a while since my last post. I don't know why it's harder and harder to sit down at the computer and type. Life just gets busier, doesn't it? Hmm.
So, this post will mostly just be a ton of photos to catch up on what we've been doing to get through the winter. I don't mind the snow. I don't terribly mind the temps (it hasn't been so bad this year). But, the darkness is definitely a force to overcome. When it wasn't even getting light outside until 11:00 a.m., I was struggling to get the day started. And when we finally did get moving, it was almost dark again. It took a lot of effort to get out and about. And some days we didn't make it. Ha. But there's been a change! It is 5:30 p.m. right now as I type this and it is still technically light outside! Woohoo! This is doing wonders for my attitude. The days are thankfully getting longer here.
I decided at the beginning of the year that I would do a 365 day challenge...to take a picture every day for a year. Yeah, what was I thinking? I haven't been able to follow through on a commitment like that since...ever?! Lol. I made it through January with only a couple of days missed, but then I just stopped altogether. My reason for starting it was because I wanted to really, finally, for the millionth time, learn how to use my camera on manual settings. Well, maybe next year. Or maybe I should be more realistic in goal setting. Maybe a 30 day challenge or a week long challenge would be better. Anyway, a lot of these pics were from the challenge that I mostly took on the automatic setting of my camera or with my phone! Go Figure!
Pre-haircut. Bit dancing and looking in the mirror and Boo with his nerf gun.
I love these little piggies.
Mom's Club!
Horseplay.
B-man is getting his uniform ready to take an updated DA photo. He was showing Boo and Bit all of his awards. I got a little teary. I'm so proud of B-man.
Bowling, bowling, bowling...
Running back to look at the TV screen to see the crazy graphics.
She loved it too. She mostly loved the bowling tap shoes!
I didn't get authorization from Aunt R to post these pics of her from when she was a little girl, but I don't think she'll mind?! You can totally see how Lil Bit favors her Aunt R in these pics.
BeBe says that Aunt R had just received a haircut herselfcourtesy of... Aunt R. She cut her own bangs.
BeBe also sent this one and said it was Aunt R playing in the snow, but I'll have to correct her...it's ME!
Go Tigers! Even at an early age we were Tiger fans. Quick funny: I was showing these pics to Boo and he correctly named Aunt R in this Clemson pic. So, then I asked him who the baby was and he said, "Uncle Donald!" haha! For those of you who don't know him, Uncle D doesn't have any hair so I guess we look alike. Too cute! Also, when I told him it was Mama, he said, "What was your name?"
A quick aside... B-mama, you hit the nail on the head in your comment on our last post! Lil Bit is sooo cute and I've caved numerous times recently because of it! I mean, how can I resist?! Of course this is now starting to haunt me because I've had to say "no" and stick to it, despite her cuteness, on a few issues recently. Needless to say, her 2 year old self hasn't taken to that very well (read: throws a fit and screams and lies on the floor wherever we are). The cuteness! Aaah! : )
Okay, on to today's post. 2013...the year that Lil Bit gets her first haircut and the year Lil Boo will go off to kindergarten (8 months from now, but still). Waaaaah! Waaaah! Waaah! My babies are growing up so fast!! Seriously, I had such a hard time taking the plunge to get Lil Bit's hair cut. Her locks were really getting long and kind of stringy but I just couldn't do it. It would be our last "first haircut" and thus was an emotional hurdle for me to overcome. But, I finally made the appointment. I just knew I was going to bawl. But, I didn't...at the actual haircut (more on that later)! She was such a big girl and I was busy taking pics. She did so good! No tears and did exactly what Ms Alisha told her to do. Ms Alisha is awesome and makes me feel beautiful and special when I go see her to get my own stringy hair cut, so I knew she would just ooh and ah over Lil Bit. Ms Alisha did not disappoint! AND, Lil Bit walked away with a big ole tootsie roll pop! Score!
She is even CUTER with her little bob. How is that possible? And looks even more like Aunt R. Bebe, you'll have to scan a pic of Aunt R and send to me so I can show their resemblance.
See the tootsie roll pop on her shirt? : )
We love her new do! It fits her perfectly. Now, I didn't cry when she was getting it cut, but I did cry. After our strip to the salon, we came home, ate lunch, and then I put her down for a nap. When I heard her wake up, I went into her room to get her. And that's when it happened. I had forgotten that her hair was shorter. I was imagining my long haired gal on my way to her room. And when I opened the door and her cute little bobbed self was standing there like such a big girl, I lost it.
I have to tell y'all this too... When Lil Bit says 'I love you, Mama' she says, "I love you too much, Mama". I love it! Sooo sweet. I think she's trying to say I love you so much, but it comes out 'too much' and I hope she says it like that forever.
More examples of her cuteness...
I have no idea where she got this idea, but she'll just pick up
something (usually something that is NOT hers) and will say "thank you
so much" for it. It's killer. Gets me EVERY. TIME.
Another "thank you" and a song. She's also going through a little dress phase. My cousin made this dress for her when she was an itty bitty. It's still a tad long, but she found it in her closet and the rest is history.
I have a dear friend from our days at Ft Carson who is just an awesome lady in every sense of the word. In fact, our other friend S and I used to think that B-mama, who blogs over at G-ville,had to be older than us because she was so smart and wise. She is wise beyond her years, because lo and behold, she is younger than us. Lol. B-mama has always been a great example to me of all the roles we hold as women. I wish we were still across the street from each other!
B-mama has a sweet little girl MG who is about 6 months older than our Lil Bit. We follow each other's blogs and about 85% of our comments are along the lines of, "I can't believe how much MG and Lil Bit look alike!" It seems they have similar personalities too with a wonderful zest for life. I've been saying forever that I was going to blog about how much they look alike. I'm finally getting around to it.
So, I present to you our little doppelgangers (in every good sense of the word).
Lil Bit!
MG!
Lil Bit!
MG!
It really is uncanny, huh? Such cute little girls! They both provide such a unique specialness to our families. We love you MG and Lil Bit!!
Ok, I'm catching up on our Christmas festivities. We arrived from Hawaii on the morning of Christmas Eve. Luckily, we all went back to sleep! Whew. We were tired. Once we awoke from our long winter's nap, we were full swing ahead with preparing for the Big Guy from the North Pole. We made cookies and set out carrots and water for the reindeer. We laid out our stockings so that Santa could easily fill them. We were all ready!
Are the cookies ready yet?
Reading, "Twas the Night before Christmas." Our tradition.
Happy New Year! Our beloved Clemson Tigers played against LSU in the Chic Fil A bowl on New Year's Eve and it was a great game! And...we won!! Whew! Go Tigers!
So, I pulled out our Tiger Paw goblets that I so nicely painted back in TX for our New Year's toast.
Here's to the year behind us and to the one before us!
